Happy New Years to all of our supporters of Surfing for Hope. We are very thankful for everyone’s efforts in 2014! Our efforts over the last three years have increased cancer awareness, raised more than $150,000 for the Hearst Cancer Resource Center, and our Surfing for Hope Longboard Contest Weekend is becoming a central coast tradition. I am very proud of our past success and I’m sure that 2015 will be no different!
Last year was challenging for me personally because my only sibling, Cathy Martin, was fighting an amazing battle with this awful disease. Cathy’s fight was remarkable and showed her strength and courage. My sister lost her battle on Nov 12. So I’m proud and saddened to say that this year’s Honoree for Surfing for Hope will be my sister, Cathy Martin.
Her battle is similar to way to many people and reinforces all the reasons why we started this event in 2012: to help inspire people challenged by cancer through the positive energy of surfing. Join us on November 6th and 7th, 2015 for the fourth annual Surfing for Hope Benefit. We can make a difference and help more people challenged by cancer. You can surf for a cause.
Peace Love and a huge Aloha,
Bob
